One of the most powerful ways in which infrared thermography can be applied is locating and/or verifying levels in tanks, vessels and silos. Sometimes existing instrumentation may provide this information, but it can often be inaccurate or unreliable, resulting in excessive pump cycling (and increased energy costs) or pumps not functioning when required. For solid materials, inaccurate tank levels typically results in material waste, quality and safety issues.
